Raikkonen dominant in second practice
06 July 2007 / Results / PhotosKimi Raikkonen was easily fastest in the second practice session of this weekend's British Grand Prix with a best time of 1:20.639s. He was half a second quicker than Ferrari team-mate Felipe Massa in second. Ralf Schumacher popped up in third place for Toyota ahead of McLaren's Lewis Hamilton.
Hamilton and Schumacher had actually set an identical time of 1:21.381s yet the German was classified above as he set the time first. Schumacher's team-mate Jarno Trulli was fifth fastest as the Toyota pair dared to interfere in the McLaren-Ferrari battle. Fernando Alonso was almost a second off the pace in sixth ahead of the Williams pair of Nico Rosberg and Alexander Wurz, who continued to shine. After a poor first session, Red Bull's Mark Webber was back in the top ten in ninth whilst the second highest Brit again was Anthony Davidson in tenth.
The Renaults improved slightly from this morning's session to go 11th and 12th , as Heikki Kovalainen and Giancarlo Fisichella continued to show how evenly matched they are at the moment. Surprisingly the two BMW Saubers of Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld were languishing down in 13th and 15th despite completing plenty of laps. Meawhile, stepping in for Jenson Button who was suffering from back pains earlier, Christian Klien was just over three tenths off his team-mate Rubens Barrichello in 18th. The Toro Rossos and Spykers continue to bring up the rear. Adrian Sutil's session ended 20 minutes before time when he crashed his Spyker into the tyre barrier at Copse.
