Albers considering legal action

Albers considering legal action

10 July 2007

Christijan Albers was told this morning that he is no longer Spyker's Formula 1 race driver and that he will be replaced by another driver at the upcoming German Grand Prix. The Dutchman said he is now analyzing with a team of advisers whether or not to take legal action against the team.

"Obviously this has been a very unpleasant surprise," said Albers. "Racing wise things were getting better and better and this has been purely a decision based on the business side of things. It's really unfortunate because I was really looking forward to racing Spyker's B-car."

Even though today's news has been a major blow to Albers' prospects he is still positive about his racing career. "Do I still have a future in Formula 1? Of course, there is always a future and I would never give up. It won't be easy to fight and get to the top but I will do all I can. There is more than Spyker in Formula 1."

This morning's announcement though isn't the end of it as far as Albers is concerned. "I hope to talk with Spyker soon to solve this matter because they promised me that I would finish the season. It is too early to say if we will take legal steps against the team but it could be very well possible."
