Felipe Massa set the fastest time on the Belgian clocks on Wednesday at Spa-Francorchamps. The Brazilian completed his fastest lap in the morning when it was still dry. He was well ahead of McLaren driver Fernando Alonso and Renault's Heikki Kovalainen. Spyker driver Adrian Sutil also performed well, setting the fifth fastest time.

At the Spa-Francorchamps track the conditions started off dry despite the cloud-cover. That changed though during the day's lunch-break after a heavy downfall. The track remained wet for the rest of the day despite some dry spells.

A few drivers experienced their first outing in a Formula 1 car at Spa-Francorchamps. Adrian Sutil, Heikki Kovalainen, Sebastien Bourdais, Nico Rosberg, Robert Kubica and Anthony Davidson all enjoyed their first F1-outing at Spa. "I raced at this track in GP2 a couple of years ago, but the first time in an F1 car is always a bit different, no matter which circuit it is," commented Kovalainen.

Today's session was red flagged twice in the afternoon. First it was Felipe Massa and the second time it was for Sebastien Bourdais who stopped his car.

Wednesday's test session was witnessed by just over 14,000 Formula 1 fans.
