Trulli realistic over results potential
16 July 2007Jarno Trulli admits that the Toyota team is limited to only challenging for the lower points paying positions. The Italian has been on strong form this season - only failing to get into Q3 once out of nine grands prix - but believes that hoping for a podium finish is asking too much.
Trulli, who turned 33 last Friday, told autosport.com: "I think we have to be realistic and say we can score points and this is the most important thing."
Trulli has stepped onto the podium seven times in his grand prix career, the last time being early in 2005, but he doesn't expect to return in the near future on merit alone.
He added: "Anything can happen in Formula 1, you can also get on the podium when you don't expect it, but realistically we don't have the pace to say we can fight for the podium. We can only fight for the remaining points I would say.
"It is difficult to judge at the moment because sometimes Renault are ahead, sometimes we are ahead, and it depends on circuits and circumstances. There are a few variables."
