Technical chief Pascal Vasselon says that the team is now setting the BMW Sauber team as its benchmark at race weekends. Although BMW Sauber has scored 47 more points than the Cologne-based outfit after nine rounds, Vasselon believes that its pace at Silverstone, where Ralf Schumacher managed to qualify sixth, shows that Toyota is now in a position to challenge for the status of F1's third best team.

Vasselon said: "We definitely hope to show the same level of performance (as at Silverstone). Ralf had a very strong weekend. From the very first outing in P1 to the race itself, Ralf performed well all weekend, especially being able to put together all his best sector times for the last outing in Q2 when it really matters. That was a very good achievement.
"Our goal now is to fight with BMW and push to finish races in the top six. The pace we achieved at Silverstone is our target. We want our drivers to be fighting for the top six."
