Gascoyne not expecting miracles at Nurburgring
18 July 2007Spyker's technical officer Mike Gascoyne has said the team will try to get both cars to the finish at the upcoming European Grand Prix this weekend. The same target applies to the following Grand Prix in Budapest as it will not be until the Turkish Grand Prix at the end of August that the team will run their new, eagerly awaited B-chassis.
Speaking about the expected team performance Gascoyne told Speed TV: "I think it will be very similar to Silverstone. It's Adrian's home race, and he'll be very keen to shine. We just want to concentrate on doing a professional job and getting two cars to the finish. Obviously we're concentrating on the B-spec car for Turkey, so there's not so much in terms of updates.
"We're at the back, but I think we're the most competitive backmarker team there's been for a long time! Certainly with the sort of improvement we're targeting in the car for Turkey, that will allow us to become a properly competitive team."
