Valles working on his options at Spyker
18 July 2007Spyker's test driver Adrian Valles hopes he could make his Formula 1 race debut as early as this season. The Spaniard originally intended to test this season with a view to gaining a race seat in 2008 but the 21-year-old revealed that he would love to bring that forward and race this year to gain more experience for the 2008 season.
Valles and his manager are currently negotiating with the Spyker F1 team about the available position next to Adrian Sutil. "Yes, obviously we are very interested to race with the team," Valles told GPUpdate.net. "But at the moment we're just talking to see what is possible. I don't expect to race at the European Grand Prix, but it would be really great if I could step into the car later this season.
"My goal this season was to gain experience and to race in Formula 1 next year. But if I could already race in a few races this year it would obviously be great to gather even more experience and be well prepared for 2008."
