Alonso better prepared for second half of the season
20 July 2007McLaren driver Fernando Alonso has said he feels better prepared for the second half of the 2007 Formula 1 championship than he was at the start of the season. Alonso joined the McLaren team this winter and is in his first season at the Woking-based team
"I feel a lot more comfortable with the car than I was at the start of the season," Alonso told Spanish newspaper AS. "I'm also more comfortable with the tyres now and getting used to them. I feel more prepared to face the second half of the season than I was at the start of this season when I still had to learn a lot about this car.
"My goal is to finish on the podium at every race now to close to gap with my team-mate Lewis (Hamilton). There is no room to make any errors as there are only half of the races to go on the calendar, but still, when you get into the car all you think of is the race of the weekend, and not the championship. I have to do my best and try to win as many races as possible if I want to win the championship."
