Sutil not bothered about team-mate saga
20 July 2007Whilst the Spyker team has been busy sorting out its haphazard driver situation, Adrian Sutil has kept to himself and focused on his side of the garage. Although the 24-year-old reveals he is a close friend of the team's eventual choice for the European Grand Prix- Markus Winkelhock - he has said that he does not care who partners him.
"It doesn't matter for me really," Sutil said. "I'm concentrating on my own things. It's nice to have Markus next to me, he's a really, really nice guy. I like him and I think we will have a good weekend. But I don't really care about my team-mates. I know what my job is and I try to do it as well as possible."
Although Sutil is not yet happy with the driveability of the F8-VII F1, he is confident that the team has put right its various technical problems of late.
"For sure it's difficult to drive but normally in qualifying we have a good balance and I'm quite happy with the car," he revealed. "We had some technical problems in the last races. Hopefully they are fixed for this race and for the following races as well. But I'm confident. I'm always confident, and for our possibilities at the moment I'm quite happy with the car."
However, Sutil is even more confident and upbeat about Spyker's eagerly awaited b-spec, which will be the first Spyker to properly have technical chief Mike Gascoyne's stamp on it. The new car is scheduled for the Turkish Grand Prix and Sutil says the early signs are good.
"The guys are absolutely convinced that the car is better, the wind tunnel shows us how big the difference is. I trust them, and I think we'll do a little step. Normally if the car is good, it should be fast straight away."
