The McLaren team confirmed this morning that Lewis Hamilton has been cleared to race in today's European Grand Prix by FIA Medical Delegate Dr. Gary Hartstein and the Chief Medical Officer of the event, Dr Klaus U. Zerbian.
Hamilton crashed hard out of the final qualifying session and things looked pretty bad when he first tried to get out of the car. He was soon brought to a nearby hospital in a helicopter. Not much later he was released out of the hospital and things looked positive for the current championship leader.
Lewis Hamilton will start the race from tenth position. The McLaren team took his engine and gearbox and placed it in the team's spare car.
