Massa: Alonso's anger not my problem
22 July 2007 / Results / PhotosFelipe Massa defended his role in the wheel-banging battle with Fernandno Alonso at the race's finale. The Brazilian said that he does not care if the McLaren driver did not like the fact that the two touched as Alonso came past.
Massa said in the press conference after the race: "It was a pretty good start, I managed to pass Fernando (Alonso) and almost passed Kimi (Raikkonen). I almost went off two or three times when the rain came down at the start."
In the last few laps the rain came down and Massa had Alonso glued to his tail. Alonso eventually past the Ferrari driver but Massa banged into the sidepod of the MP4-22 with his front right tyre as the Spaniard made his way past.
Massa said: "In the dry the car was very good, I managed to pull away and get a controlled pace unfortunately then the rain came. I couldn't find the pace and Fernando came closer and closer and I couldn't keep him off. I was surprised that Alonso told me I did it (hit his tyre on Alonso's sidepod) on purpose so I got angry with him. If he is not happy with this it is not my problem."
