Flav sends team back to the drawing board
23 July 2007 / Results / PhotosFlavio Briatore did not mix his words when describing Renault's efforts during the European Grand Prix yesterday. The managing director blames a lack of understanding of the R27 and poor race tactics for the reason why the team only collected one point.
Heikki Kovalianen finished eighth for Renault but was certain of a fifth placed finish just ten laps from the end when the pitwall made the mistake of bringing him in early for wet tyres. Giancarlo Fisichella ended up tenth.
Briatore said: "This was a bad race for the team. We arrived here optimistic that our new developments would help us gain in performance, but we failed to take advantage of the changing conditions during the race, and lost more ground to our rivals. Our job now is to analyse everything back at the factory, understand our mistakes and start moving forward again."
