McLaren driver Pedro de la Rosa was the fastest man in the South of Spain today in the first out of a three-day test. At Jerez de Spaniard completed a fastest lap of 1.20.111 and was over a second faster than any other driver today. Sebastien Buemi enjoyed his first proper Formula 1 test with the Red Bull Racing team.

At Jerez testing got underway on Tuesday morning with some of the teams already working on next season's specifications. At Toyota the team brought Franck Montagny to Jerez to test the car without using traction control as of next season traction control won't be allowed anymore. Montagny said about his day at Jerez: "We spent much of the day running without traction control in preparation for 2008. That meant the car was sliding a lot but we put in some useful laps and found a good direction to take. This week we are also working on improving our start procedure along with brakes and other systems. So it was a good day and we're getting there."

At Red Bull Racing we saw a fairly new face in Formula 1. The 18-year-old Sebastien Buemi, F3 Euroseries driver, joined the team as a replacement for injured Michael Ammermueller. He completed 78 laps and set his fastest time of the day at 1.22.565. With the number of miles Buemi completed Red Bull can now request the FIA for a Superlicense so the team could place Buemi in the car during a Formula 1 weekend if they wanted to do so.

On Wednesday the teams will continue testing at Jerez.
