Schumi to stop going to races

Schumi to stop going to races

04 August 2007

Michael Schumacher will not be attending anymore races this season, it has been confirmed. The seven-time world champion has been to several grands prix this season in Ferrari colours and has maintained a close relationship with his former colleagues.

However it would seem that the German is not really involved with racing activities and has grown disillusioned with his undefined role. Thus Schumi has decided to quit the loitering to focus on family life.

Sabine Kehm, Schumacher's spokeswoman, said: "For this year, Michael has no intention to go again to the tracks. He still has some official commitments, but his priority will be to spend his time with his family."

There was a lot of speculation as to whether Schumacher would stay on at the Maranello-based giant in a managerial capacity with question marks hanging over Jean Todt's future but this seems to have subsided. Instead he seemed 'jobless' on grand prix weekends and indirectly caused bad press when it was rumoured that his presence caused unrest between the regular drivers Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen.
