08 August 2007The BMW Sauber F1 team is enjoying a very strong start of the season so far. Speaking about the team's strong performance in Hungary last weekend BMW Sauber F1 team boss Mario Theissen said: "The result at the Grand Prix on the Hungaroring was not only fantastic in itself; it was the best result in our team's history. Nick as third-placed driver on the podium and Robert in fifth position just behind - that equals ten very important points. We haven't been able to collect as many points as in Budapest so far. It's a fantastic result.
"Everything went well for us. Our race strategy was offensive, the pit stops were perfect and that was very important. I'd like to extend a big compliment to the team on the race track, but also our employees in Munich and in Hinwil."
Just like championship leader McLaren and Italian team Ferrari the BMW Sauber F1 team scored points in every race so far. Something the team is very proud of. "We have now managed to collect points in each of the eleven season races and finished in the points with both cars in the last four races in succession. Following our second podium position of the year, we have now established a substantial lead in the manufacturers' classification. Therefore, we can now enter the summer break full of confidence and motivation. More than anyone else our mechanics and engineers are glad to at least be able to enjoy a few days of peace and quiet following the strenuous past weeks and months.
"Following the race in Hungary, however, we are obviously continuing to work hard in Munich and in Hinwil. After all, we are determined to defend our third place until the end of the season."
