McLaren appeal date set

McLaren appeal date set

17 August 2007

McLaren's appeal to reclaim the 15 points it lost at the Hungarian Grand Prix will be heard on 19 September. The appeal will come just six days after it faces the International Court of Appeal over the espionage scandal.

The FIA ruled that the Woking-based outfit would not be awarded any points its drivers scored during the Hungarian Grand Prix after its part in the pitlane fracas. Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton went on to amass 15 points during the race to title rival Ferrari's eight.

A statement from the FIA read: "The International Court of Appeal (ICA) will meet in Paris on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 to hear an appeal lodged by the Motor Sports Association on behalf of its licence-holder Vodafone McLaren Mercedes concerning a decision of the Panel of the Stewards of the 2007 Hungarian Grand Prix.

"In the interests of transparency the hearing will be open to members of the press and details of the accreditation procedure will be published closer to the time."
