McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton completed the fastest lap in Friday's second free practice. The Briton was three tenths of a second ahead of championship rival Kimi Raikkonen. The Toyota F1 team surprised a few as Schumacher and Trulli finished third and fourth in Friday's second free practice. The session was stopped for half an hour when a drain cover came loose at the exit of Turn 10.

The second free practice session on Friday saw plenty of action. After 25 minutes into the 90-minute session the session was red flagged due to a loose drain cover. The drain cover at the exit of Turn 10 came loose when Renautl driver Giancarlo Fisichella drove over it. It took the organisers in Turkey 30 minutes to repair the drain before free practice could continue.

The session didn't go as planned for Scuderia Toro Rosso driver Sebastian Vettel. The German got stuck in second gear and slowly drove back to the pitlane when Anthony Davidson almost ran into Vettel. At the end of the session Davidson had another scary moment when he went off hard and ended in the tyre walls.
