McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton seems ready for Saturday's qualifying session. The championship leader completed the fastest lap in this morning's free practice session. Hamilton was well ahead of Felipe Massa, Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso.

The Turkish Grand Prix weekend continued today at 11.00am, local time, at Istanbul Park. Temperatures in Istanbul are already as high as 34 degrees Celsius and it is expected to go up in the afternoon.

As most drivers went out for their first installation run Lewis Hamilton didn't get much further than about 100 metres out of the pitlane. The McLaren driver has to be pushed back into the pitlane by marshals before his team could take over and bring his car back into the pitbox. Hamilton had to remain in for almost 30 minutes before the team was able to send him out again to prepare for today's qualifying session.

There was one incident around the end of the session. Super Aguri driver Takuma Sato spun his car and ended in the gravel.
