Toyota in no rush to announce 2008 line-up
06 September 2007Toyota's Formula 1 President John Howett has said he is in no hurry to announce the team's second driver for the 2008 F1 season. Jarno Trulli currently has an ongoing contract but according to speculations in the paddock it is very unlikely that Ralf Schumacher's contract will be extended for another season.
John Howett told Speed TV about the drivers situation at Toyota: "At the moment we're fairly comfortable. "We're looking and waiting to see what happens, whether there's any other movement in the driver market. It's a risk for us potentially, but we'll see."
Speaking about Ralf Schumacher's position he said: "He might be higher than a fall back position, depending on availability. There are other drivers who are not even on the list. At the moment we just feel we want to wait. For him it's a very uncomfortable position it's clear, I personally have quite a lot of sympathy for him. Probably by the end of the season we should have an idea of what we want to do."
