Raikkonen fastest in Belgium
14 September 2007 / Results / PhotosWhile most are still talking about the spy sage in the paddock it was Kimi Raikkonen who completed the fastest lap in Friday's first free practice session at Spa-Francorchamps. The Ferrari driver was half a second ahead of McLaren drivers Hamilton and Alonso.
The World Motorsport Council's decision had barely sunken in by 10.00am this morning when the Formula 1 season continued at Spa-Francorchamps for the Belgian Grand Prix.
Felipe Massa was the first to cause yellow flags this morning. In his second lap he lost control of his Ferrari and went off at Rivage. He went into the gravel and gently touched the tyre barriers. He was unable to continue his free practice session, but his Ferrari remained undamaged.
Halfway into the session Scuderia Toro Rosso driver Vitantonio Liuzzi went off. He ran into the gravel and was stopped in his tracks by the tyre barrier. Luckily the car was not too badly damaged.
Around the end of the session the spectators at Spa-Francorchamps saw Sakon Yamaoto go straight in the new busstop. He had to park his car at the side of the track without any damage.
