McLaren's engine partner Mercedes will offer the Woking based team its total support. When asked if Mercedes would continue to remain enthusiastic about their presense in Formula 1 Mercedes Motor Sport vice-president Norbert Haug confirmed: "Of course we do. This is not up for discussion. We also stand by our partner McLaren. And we refrain from putting the blame on anybody."
Speaking to the Guardian Haug furthermore said McLaren will not have to worry to see Mercedes withdrawal from the sport. "No worries at all. And I don't see any sign of the image problems some say we are supposed to have. On the contrary, we get a lot of support and encouragement from outside."
Mercedes owner Daimler AG has a 40% stake in the McLaren Formula 1 team.
