Fisi hopes for more luck at Fuji

24 September 2007

Giancarlo Fisichella didn't have his best race at Spa-Francorchamps last week. The Italian ran out of luck as his team had to change his engine, began his race from the pitlane and had to give up his Belgian Grand Prix weekend after one lap already. The Renault driver he will bring more luck to Japan for this weekend's race at the Fuji International Speedway.

"There isn't much to say about the weekend to be honest," said Fisichella looking back at the Belgian Grand Prix. "It was a complicated weekend, and it was made more frustrating by the fact that the car was working well. My concentration is now on the final three races, where I am looking to have some good battles and score more points.

Even though the Fuji Speedway has been out of the Formula 1 calendar for many years Fisichella is fermiliar with the track as he raced there in Formula 3. "I think it is always interesting for the teams and drivers when you go to a new place, and a new circuit," said Fisichella. "It breaks up the routine from year to year when things change around. And for the drivers and also the engineers, I think it makes our job a bit more interesting. To be honest, this isn't my first time in Fuji because I raced there back in 1993 in F3 - but the circuit has changed a lot since then. That means I will have plenty of work to do learning the track."
