Kovalainen looking forward to Japanese support

24 September 2007

Heikki Kovalainen is excited to travel to Japan for the Grand Prix at Fuji this weekend. The Finn is in his first season in Formula 1 but can already count a the support of many Japanese fans. Kovalainen is furthermore looking forward to race at the Fuji Speedway, which he visited last year for a promotional event.

Speaking about the upcoming race at the Fuji International Speedway Kovalainen said: "Fuji is a track I already know a little bit about after doing a promotional event for our partners here last year. I think it will make for good racing, which will be good for all the Japanese supporters, who are always really enthusiastic about Formula 1!

Speaking about the extremely enthusiastic fans in Japan he said: "It's amazing. The Japanese fans are without a doubt the best of the whole season: very enthusiastic, always kind, and they will wait for hours to see you at the hotel or the circuit. Even last year when I wasn't a race driver, I was amazed by how many people recognised me or stopped me for autographs. It really puts you in a good mood, and makes you want to race well for them."
