Villeneuve finishes 21st in NASCAR Truck debut

24 September 2007

Jacques Villeneuve finished his very first NASCAR Craftman series race in 21st position. The former Sauber F1 driver qualified himself seventh but an early race crash with another rookie driver ruined his race. Villeneuve hit rookie driver Scott from behind, damaging the nose of his Nascar truck forcing him to make several pit stops for repairs.

"I saw the red truck in front of me start to bounce around on the track and he slowed and I got into the back of him," Villeneuve told Speed TV. "I couldn't avoid him and it damaged the nose of our truck up pretty good. But I learned a lot. I made a big mistake on the first restart, and I will be sure not to do that again. I also learned that these guys run very hard from the very beginning. Even though the truck was damaged, it was a big learning experience for us."
