Bomb attack on former Minardi test driver
25 September 2007On Monday it was reported by Russian media that a bomb, attached to the Mercedes of former Minardi test driver Sergey Zlobin, has exploded in Moscow. It detonated under the car as the Russian race driver started his engine.
Sergey Zlobin got a minor conussion but got away from the incident fairly well. Speaking to Russia Today Zlobin said: "I started the car then reversed about a metre and heard the explosion under my feet. The floor blasted open. I got out of the car and saw that it wasn't on fire then called the police. Nothing extraordinary there, I just feel sorry about the car. I am very lucky that my legs are fine because the floor was badly damaged."
A case has been opened by Moscow police on charge of attempted murder on the ex-Formula 1 test driver.
Sergey Zlobin was the first even man from Russia to drive a Formula 1 car. He test driver at Minardi F1 in 2002 when the team was racing in the Formula 1 championship with Mark Webber and Alex Yoong.
