Glock hopes to get new F1 adventure next season

01 October 2007

Fresh 2007 GP2 series Champion Timo Glock hopes he can return as a race driver in Formula 1 next season. The 25-year-old German won Sunday's final GP2 race and clinched the championship in Valencia. Last year Lewis Hamilton won the championship in GP2.

Timo Glock is travelling to Shanghai this week for the BMW Sauber F1 team as the team's test and reserve driver. The German, who completed one race for Jordan in 2004, is rumoured to be Ralf Schumacher's replacement at Toyota for next season.

Previous GP2 champions Nico Rosberg (2005) and Lewis Hamilton (2006) all made it to Formula 1 after clinching the GP2 title. Timo Glock hopes he can do the same next season. "It just has to be that way," said Glock. "In the previous two seasons the champions both promoted to Formula 1. I really hope we can get a seat for 2008."
