At the start of Sunday's Grand Prix all teams except Ferrari were told to start the race on wet tyres. At Ferrari though the team never got the message and decided to start the race on intermediates. Both drivers spun and had to pit for new tyres. According to David Coulthard it was a big surprise to see Ferrari on intermediates, as the conditions were terrible the Scotsman said.
Speaking about the incident he said in his ITV column: "I must say I was amazed that Ferrari chose to put him and Felipe Massa on intermediates at the start - regardless of the fuss about when they received their email from Charlie. There was just no way intermediates could have worked. This wasn't a Malaysia 2001 when that policy had worked for them, it was a different situation altogether with way more standing water.
"I don't believe Michael Schumacher and Ross Brawn would have done that in this instance and I think it shows a weakness on Ferrari's part."
