No penalty for Hamilton

No penalty for Hamilton

05 October 2007

Championship leader Lewis Hamilton is safe. The Briton did not receive a penalty for his questioned behaviour behind the safety car in Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix. The stewards started an investigation after new evidence came in. On Friday evening the stewards announced  that Hamilton will not receive any penalty.

In Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix Sebastian Vettel crashed into the back of Mark Webber. According to both Webber and Vettel it was Lewis Hamilton, driving extremely slowly, causing the incident. After the race Vettel was penalised with a 10-place grid penalty for this Sunday's Chinese Grand Prix.

In only his first season in Formula 1 Lewis Hamilton can win the championship if he wins Sunday's Grand Prix at the Shanghai International Circuit.
