Hamilton on the pace in second free practice
19 October 2007 / Results / PhotosMcLaren driver Lewis Hamilton was the fastest driver in Friday's second free practice session. The Briton completed his fastest lap in 1m12.767 and was just ahead of his team-mate Fernando Alonso. Ferrari drivers Felipe Massa and Raikkonen were both close behind in third and fourth.
The second free practice got underway on Friday afternoon with better track conditions. While the track was still fairly wet in the morning it was dry in the afternoon making it easier for the 22 drivers to prepare themselves for Saturday's qualifying session and Sunday's race.
In the afternoon the lap times improved quickly during the session. While Mark Webber was the first to go faster than 1m19seconds. Not much later the Australian Red Bull driver improved his time to 1.16.900.

After 30 minutes Fernando Alonso joined the other drivers for his first timed lap of the day. The Spaniard completed the fastest lap in 1.16.081. Later in the session Alonso's team-mate Lewis Hamilton completed the fastest lap in 1.14.949. As the track dried the times were quickly set in the 1.13's.
With 15 minutes to go in Friday's second free practice session it was BMW driver Robert Kubica topping the time sheets. But in the final minutes the McLaren drivers both completed a lap in less than one minute thirteen. Ferrari drivers Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen were both three tenths of a second slower than pace setter Lewis Hamilton.
