Raikkonen fastest in opening practice

19 October 2007 / Results / Photos

Kimi Raikkonen was clearly the fastest driver at a drying track on Friday morning at Interlagos. The Ferrari driver was half a second faster than team-mate Felipe Massa who completed the second fastest lap in Brazil. Heikki Kovalainen did well as he finished third, while Lewis Hamilton ended fifth. Fernando Alonso only completed an installation lap.

Free practice got underway on Friday morning at a wet track. In the opening stages of the 90-minute session Spyker F1 driver Adrian Sutil and Toyota's Jarno Trulli were the fastest drivers at Interlagos. Sutil spun around twice at the slippery track, but he wasn't the only one. Ralf Schumacher was among a few drivers that also had problems keeping the car on track.

The BMW, McLaren, Renault and Ferrari drivers only completed an installation run in the first 60 minutes. Around the end of the session Lewis Hamilton was the first top driver to complete a fast lap. In the end the BMW drivers, Alonso and Fisichella did not complete a timed lap.
