Mol expects swift approval of new Spyker name

Mol expects swift approval of new Spyker name

21 October 2007

Spyker's new co-owner Michiel Mol says he is completely behind the renaming of Spyker to Force India F1 in 2008, even if it no longer plays up to the Dutch heritage he sought to bring to F1 under the Spyker name.

"I believe Force India F1 is a great name, which we worked on with GR8 Industries," Mol told GPUpdate.net. "But the other teams will still have to give it a green light."

Mol went on to explain that he expected a swift approval from the other teams, given that he also has the backing of Bernie Ecclestone.

"Bernie Ecclestone has suggested it shouldn't be a problem," Mol added. "We're really happy to have his support. There is a World Motor Sport Council meeting on Tuesday and I hope that there might be a decision that soon already."

"If the name change is approved very soon we might be able to use it already during the test sessions in November and December," he confirmed. "At the moment we haven't discussed the livery in detail and it really depends on the sponsors, but we'll sort that out in the upcoming months."
