Hamilton doesn't want to win on appeal

23 October 2007

Lewis Hamilton says he doesn't want to win the F1 drivers' championship as a result of McLaren's appeal and would rather win it on the racetrack.

"It would be wrong," he told Reuters. "I want to win it on the track and do it in style, winning the race and battling out for the lead or something in the race. Being promoted after some people have been thrown out is not the way I want to do it."

"It would feel weird after Kimi did such a good job in the last two races," he added. "He won it and to have it taken away is a bit cruel and probably not good for the sport."
