Prodrive not an option for De la Rosa
23 October 2007McLaren Formula 1 test and reserve driver Pedro de la Rosa has said he would rather stay at McLaren as the team's test driver than joining the all new Prodrive Formula 1 team.
Prodrive received a license to enter Formula One in 2008 but the company has yet to announce its engine partner. Even though the team's future is highly uncertain at the moment the British company still believes it will enter the sport next season.
McLaren's test and reserve driver Pedro de la Rosa has been linked in various media as a possible candidate for the team as Prodrive might run with Mercedes' engines. The Spaniard though has said he isn't interested in a position with the team. "I have a contract with McLaren for another two seasons and I am very happy at McLaren," De la Rosa told Spanish newspaper Marca. "I'm really proud to be part of this fabulous team that is winning races on a regular basis.
"I got the option to join the team, but I haven't heard anything about Prodrive lately. I really doubt we'll see the team at all next season in Formula 1."
