Hamilton quits UK for Switzerland

29 October 2007

Lewis Hamilton is moving to Switzerland officially to escape the excessive public and media attention he has received so far in his F1 career, but surely also to benefit from the generous tax breaks other F1 stars including Michael Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso have enjoyed.

"Over there people don't come up to you all the time, they leave youalone and give you space," said 22-year-old Hamilton who has been spotted out and about several nighttime hotspots over the past week in London. "I'm going to a country that I don't know but it's very exciting."

"It was a tough decision," he added. "My dream for years was to move to London but I'll meet new people, new faces and my friends and family from home will be able to come and visit me."

Speaking about his torment in the UK Hamilton said, "I can't go to the cinema. I go to the bathroom in a petrol station and people come in there for autographs."
