Manager: Alonso can't be forced to leave McLaren

31 October 2007

According to Fernando Alonso's manager, Luis García, the Spaniard can never be forced to leave the McLaren team if the team wishes to replace him. His manager said there a contract with McLaren that can not simply be sold to another team if the team wishes to do so.

Speculations suggest Alonso could move to Williams or Renault next season, but García has said these speculations are completely rubbish. "If that's what people are saying then they know more than me. We have a contract next year with McLaren and that's it. Can they sell it? Without our approval, no they cannot," he told the Guardian.

McLaren team boss Ron Dennis said he hopes to clear his drivers situation within the next two weeks but Alonso's manager is in no rush. "Nothing is urgent. We are trying to rest a little. I have no special meetings with McLaren scheduled."
