Theissen wants wins in 2008

03 November 2007

Mario Theissen has said the 2007 season was one of the most exciting he remembers, regardless of the fact that the BMW Sauber F1 team walked away officially in second place in the constructors' championship. He went on to say that in 2008 he hopes his team can finally win its first Grand Prix as a works outfit, and win several races.

"Excitement-wise it will be difficult to top this season," Theissen said. "It was a great season, thrilling to the very last round - and spiced up by numerous unexpected incidents. For the first time since 1986, heading into the final round of a season, three drivers still had the chance of securing the title."

"I hope that we will have more than just one race win under our belt when the 2008 season is over," Theissen added. "However, we know that it will be difficult to achieve this goal as both McLaren-Mercedes and Ferrari have been racing at the very top for many years and have a clear experience advantage. Consequently, beating these two teams will be a hard nut to crack."
