Michael Schumacher back on track

Seven-time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher has made his return to driving a Formula 1 car. The German began his two-day test with the Ferrari team at Circuit de Catalunya. At 9am sharp he completed an installation lap. Later today Schumacher will continue testing in order to help the team with its preparations for next season.

Michael Schumacher arrived early this morning at the track near Barcelona and he must have felt almost confident having a buzzing atmosphere of photographers around him. Tuesday is the first day of testing for Schumacher and even the first time since the Brazilian Grand Prix 2006 that the German is back in a Formula 1 car for an official test.

Schumacher will busy himself at Circuit de Catalunya with Ferrari's new electrical systems. The new systems are installed as traction control and other driving aids are no longer allowed in 2008.
