Alonso will end up at Renault - Horner

Fernando Alonso will end up rejoining Renault for 2008 and not move to Red Bull as has been rumoured, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner claimed.

"Our drivers are under contract for 2008 and Alonso will end up at Renault," Horner told Spanish radio. "We're pleased to be linked with Alonso, it shows the progress we've made the past two years."

"But Renault is the only team other than Toyota which has a space and has not announced drivers for next season," he added.

Alonso is currently on holiday and talks with Renault are complicated by sponsorship issues that are necessary to fund Alonso's return. Meanwhile rumours before Alonso went on holiday suggested a couple of senior Toyota executives had been spotted in Switzerland, speculated to be meeting the former champion who now lives in the low-tax country.
