Spy scandal will make F1 stronger - Michael

22 November 2007

Williams technical director Sam Michael says the spy scandal which has engulfed Formula One this season will actually make the sport stronger once all is said and done and improve its long-term integrity.

"Some people this year were comparing it to drugs in cycling and how it's bad for the sport," Michael told ITV. "In actual fact I think we'll look back and say this was good for the sport. Right now everyone has had a gut-full of it, but you are going to look back in a few years and say no, they actually stopped it."

"If you allow the spying to continue then that is almost worse because people inside don't know what's right and what's wrong," he added. "This has been a clear message to say that it is wrong and we have to do something about it."

"But I think you'll look back in four or five years and say the sport is better for it," he concluded.
