Gascoyne: Better prepared than last year
27 November 2007Force India's chief technical officer Mike Gascoyne has said his team will be better prepared for the upcoming season than it was last year. The team completed only 11 days of pre-season testing before the start of the 2007 Formula One season but this winter the team has been active in every official test session thus far.

"We had limited pre-season testing last year due to budgetary reasons, but it did not really hinder us in terms of development of the car," Gascoyne explained to F1.com. "Looking forward however to next season, we have a much larger test programme planned and for sure this will allow us to be better prepared for the start of the year. "
And thus the team hopes it can make a step forward next season and race in the midfield instead of the back of the field. "For 2008 I think we definitely have to make a step forward, be more consistent, qualify better and, if we are racing in the midfield, regularly pick up the odd point. We certainly have to target more points next year," Gascoyne said. "Next year's car will be an evolution mechanically but aerodynamically you will see a lot of updates on the car for the start of the season and throughout the year."
