Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz has dashed rumours that Alonso could end up racing for his team in 2008 as speculation continues to rumble on that the former champion could take a big pay offer to replace Mark Webber or David Coulthard.
"If there's any speculation in the Italian media that Alonso is about to sign for Red Bull, I can only say I know nothing about it," Mateschitz told Motorsport Aktuell. "Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Toro Rosso have four drivers under contract."
"From what I hear Alonso is speaking to other teams about a one-year deal only," he added. "Such an arrangement is out of the question for us. We'd prefer to wait a year and prove that we can build a car that is capable of attracting one of the best drivers for 2009."
