Trulli hopes for slicks return

Trulli hopes for slicks return

30 November 2007

Jarno Trulli says he hopes that slick tyres will make a return to Formula One as soon as possible and believes they will make overtaking easier and more frequent. The Italian's comments come after Bridgestone confirmed it will supply teams with slick tyres at next week's Jerez test in preparation for a possible move to slicks in 2009.

"I was fortunate enough to use slicks in my first year in F1 and I'd be really happy if they came back," Trulli told Autosprint. "I've never liked the current grooved tyres, especially because of the driving style they impose on a drive during a race."

"When the tyres grain there's nothing you can do," he added. "You can only wait and hope it goes away in a few laps. When it happens you need to drive in an unnatural way. Probably the elimination of traction control has increased the problems and the wearing of the current tyres, but it would be nice if the slicks would come back."
