Albers: There's more than Formula 1

04 December 2007

Christijan Albers is looking beyond Formula One as there are only a few racing seats left for the 2008 season. Formula 1 is still his main target but the Dutchman says he's still open to other options.

Speaking to GPUpdate.net Albers said: "There are only 22 seats out there (in F1). The last few seats will go to drivers who can bring the biggest budgets with them. A few years ago it was only a few million but nowadays budgets went up to many millions of euro's for a year of racing."

A number of top teams have yet to announce the team's test and reserve driver. Such a vacancy could also be interesting for the former Spyker F1 driver. "It could be interesting for me to become a top team's test driver for sure, but if it's not a a great team than I'd rather race in a different race series.

"In other racing series you well get paid at least for the job you do, and even though it might sound a bit dull, you do have to make a living in racing as well. Sure, as a sportsman all you want is to compete at the highest level but you don't want to stare blind at the ultimate goal."
