Brawn reassures Barrichello
04 December 2007Honda's new team principal Ross Brawn has moved to reassure Rubens Barrichello that his seat is not under threat inlight of the growing rumours that Fernando Alonso could be about to sign for the team. The rumours started in a German publication which suggested Alonso had visited Honda's factory for a seat fitting.
"Rubens has one year remaining on his contract," Brawn told the official Formula One website. "I think the past year has been very difficult to judge either driver because of the problems with the car."
"Personally I think there's no reason not to continue with them as both have proven that they can win races and are both on very high standards," Brawn added. "I don't have any concerns about the drivers, there are much bigger challenges for the team overall."
Barrichello failed to score a point in 2007 and the rumour suggested he would be placed at Super Aguri to make way for Alonso.
