Jenson Button says it is vital that Britain maintains its place on the F1 calendar after Bernie Ecclestone renewed his battle cry that the event could be dropped unless Silverstone undergoes a multi-million pound revamp.
"We've had a sell-out crowd for a few years now, so it's difficult to think why we're not going to have a British Grand Prix," Button told the BBC. "Silverstone is a great location and a great circuit and from my perspective I love racing there. From a driver's point of view it's very challenging."
Silverstone's owners, the British Racing Drivers' Club plan to spend £25m redeveloping the circuit.
