Mark Smith joins Force India
05 December 2007The Force India Formula 1 team announced that it has signed Mark Smith and Ian Hall to join the team's technical team. Smith will become the team's Design Director and work closely with Mike Gascoyne and James Key.
At Force India Smith will take responsibility for the day to day running of the drawing office and all race car design, while Key will focus on research and development, vehicle science and development projects for the 2009 and subsequent seasons' cars. Smith joins the team from Red Bull and has previously enjoyed spells at Jordan and Renault with Gascoyne.
Ian Hall, who will be joining Force India from 1 January 2008, will assume the role of Project Leader for the 2009 car, working closely with Technical Director James Key on 2009 development. Hall was formerly Head of Transmissions with Jordan, working under Mark Smith before moving to Toyota.
Mark Smith commented: "It's great to be joining a team where I have so many memories from the past. A lot has changed at Force India since then but I look forward to the challenge and many opportunities ahead."
