Kamui Kobayashi has had a solid two-day test in Jerez with Toyota. The Japanese driver completed many laps, as Toyota was trying out the hybrid car, which has a new rear fitted. Kobayashi proved to be very reliable and he's happy with the progress he has made.
"It was ok," he told GPUpdate.net after his two days of testing. "We did many long runs, so we can see how the car works in a race situation. We've received lots of data, so I'm very happy with the test result. We tested with the rear of the car that we're going to use in 2008 and it went without any problems. We still have to check some data, but for now, I'm satisfied."
Kobayashi competed in the F3 EuroSeries last year and completed a couple of GP2 tests, which makes the switch from a GP2 car to an F1 car without traction control a little easier. "I've driven a GP2 car a few times already, so I can adapt easier to the F1 car," he said. "I think it's a bit easier for me to get used to the car without the electronic gizmo's, because I don't know any better."
