Difficult day of testing for Van der Garde

On the final day of testing for Formula 1 teams this year Giedo van der Garde completed a day of testing with the Force India F1 team. The Dutchman was slightly faster than his team-mate Rodriguez, but technical problems didn't make it Giedo's best day in F1.

Giedo van der Garde said looking back at his final test of the year: "I have a bit of mixed feelings really looking back at this test. In the afternoon it went pretty good and we were well on the pace but this morning was a drama. I received a new seat for this car but I didn't really fit in comfortable. We had to change several things in the cockpit to make things more comfortable I've practised a lot of start procedures, I think around 20 of them.

"After lunch there was time to complete some flying laps, but unfortunately we had some gearbox problems. In the afternoon we planned to test some things but the gearbox gave up on us."
