Albers returns to DTM

11 December 2007

Former Spyker Formula 1 driver Christijan Albers will return to DTM this week as the Dutchman got invited by Audi for a week of testing in the South of Spain. Albers was Holland's most successful driver in the DTM series as he finished runner-up in the championship in 2003.

At the Almeira circuit in the South-East of Spain Albers will be testing for Audi to show what he is capable of. The Dutchman could consider to return as a race driver in DTM in 2008.

Earlier this month Albers told GPUpdate.net: "There are only 22 seats out there (in F1). The last few seats will go to drivers who can bring the biggest budgets with them. A few years ago it was only a few million but nowadays budgets went up to many millions of euro's for a year of racing."

Albers competed in the DTM series from 2001 until 2004 with Mercedes.
