Following McLaren's public apology on Thursday evening in which the team revealed that Ferrari information had been spread far wider in its organisation than originally thought, the FIA has moved to close the lid on a year of spy scandals by cancelling a McLaren hearing scheduled for February.
"In the light of McLaren's public apology and undertakings, the FIA President has asked the members of the World Motor Sport Council for their consent to cancel the hearing scheduled for 14 February 2008 and, in the interests of the sport, to consider this matter closed," a statement from the FIA confirmed.
